About the Endowment: Jennifer Farrell, a promising sophomore at Clemson University, tragically passed away in a car accident in August 2001. To honor her life, family and friends have established a scholarship in her name, between John McEachern High School and Clemson University. In February of 2003, Clemson University President Jim Barker presented the scholarship endowment to Jennifer's parents, Walt & Carol Farrell. The ceremony was held in the IPTAY Center at Clemson University. We have raised approximately $250,000 to date, however it takes a principal amount of approximately $300,000 to generate enough annual income to pay for an out of state student to attend Clemson University for one year. We are working toward this goal. To date we have given eight scholarships; meet our recipients!
The Dragonfly Story In the bottom of an old pond lived some grubs who could not understand why none of their group ever came back after crawling up the stems of the lilies to the top of the water. They promised each other that the next one who was called to make the upward climb would return and tell what happened. Soon one of them felt an urgent impulse to seek the surface; she rested herself on the top of the lily pad and went through a glorious transformation, which made her a dragonfly with beautiful wings. In vain she tried to keep her promise. Flying back and forth over the pond, she peered down at her friends below. Then she realized that even if they could see her now, they would not recognize such a radiant creature as one of their own.
